The teeth used for anchoring are called abutment teeth. Our dental bridges are generally made of porcelain. Dental bridges can also be supported on either side by crowns anchored to small titanium implants that are inserted into your jaw bone.

Dental bridges are a very good solution to missing teeth as they are effective in solving many oral problems. Dental bridges will: help restore your smile; provide you the ability to chew correctly and speak clearly; help maintain the shape of your face which may change after a tooth is lost; correctly redistribute the chewing force in your bite so it is back to its original distribution; and keep other natural teeth from shifting out of their correct position. When you come to our office for a dental bridge, there will be several steps that need to be taken to complete the procedure. First, the abutment teeth will be prepared to allow for a crown to be placed over them. Then, impressions of the teeth need to be taken to serve as a model for the bridge crowns. Our dentist will fit you with a temporary bridge to protect the area that is being worked on. Then the bridge will be fitted on a subsequent visit, once the bridge and crowns are back from the laboratory. When Dr. Alhadid is sure that the bridge is fitting and working correctly, it will be permanently cemented into place. There are also removable dental bridges that can be made, that are removed from the mouth for cleaning.
